Reddit removes posts as self-promotion

A practical fix and a copyable AI coding prompt. Replace bracketed placeholders with your project details.

1. Check the problem

Post 5-10 genuinely useful, non-promotional comments to build karma before you ever drop your link. Format beats content: "I built X to solve Y" works, "check out my app" doesn't. r/SideProject and r/IndieDev are forgiving; r/programming is brutal.

2. Use the prompt

I want to share [product] on Reddit without getting removed as self-promotion. Suggest 2-3 subreddits that fit, the karma-building comments I should make first, and an 'I built X to solve Y' style post (not 'check out my app') tailored to each sub's culture.

3. Verify the fix

Review the proposed diff, run the relevant checks and exercise the original failing flow before merging.
